Hello, everyone! How are you today? I spent my morning doing some shopping-therapy and I am feeling pretty good. 
I will spend some time cleaning and lightly redecorating my house over the weekend. I always enjoy reinventing each space, sprucing it up with new pillows, new decorative objects… these small changes always make a huge difference and make us love our home even more.
Talking about loving a home, I have been waiting a long time to share this stunning home built by Petrucci Johnson Homes. This lakefront home grabs your attention the moment you see the beautiful dark Cedar shaker exterior. The interiors are equally impressive and I feel very lucky to be able to share this house tour with you today.
Take notes of the many details shared by the builder and make sure to follow them on Instagram. Since the builder didn’t have all the sources for the decor, I will be sharing similar options to help you achieve a similar look. I hope it helps.

Interior Design Ideas: Dark Cedar Shaker Exterior
“We were inspired by the homes on the ocean in Newport Rhode Island. We chose black cedar shake as it represents a classic, timeless look. We wanted to keep the color palette to a minimum to accent the contrast between the black and white trim. Being that the home is on a lake, we added a lighter pop of color with cool gray doors that give a coastal feeling.” – Petrucci Johnson Homes.
Exterior siding is Cedar Shaker siding, painted Sherwin Williams Peppercorn.
The windows are aluminum – clad and came in white. The inside of the windows is Pine and the builder stained them black.

The porch features custom columns and arched ceiling. The Alder IWP Jeld-Wen front door with sidelights was stained in Pebble Gray Mist.

“We started the foyer with a barrel vaulted to give a boat cabin feel. We added round archways to compliment the barrel vault.”
Dining Room
“Slipcovered chairs with the simplicity of the gold chandelier add a semi causal feel for an elegant meal.”

“In the dining room you have a pair of French doors that lead to a wrap around porch… a great place to have a cocktail while dinner is being prepared.”

Kitchen & Breakfast Room
“In our coastal style kitchen we used beachy elements such as rattan dining chairs, driftwood finished floors and dining table and 8” wide tongue and groove wide planks on the ceiling. To designate the eating area, we added an architectural feature using beams.”
Kitchen Island
“The island features white honed Carrera marble countertop under the dramatic black and gold globe pendants. We added a glossy, subway tile on the backsplash.”

“The windows and window seat allows a place to sit and enjoy the views of the lake before dinner.”
Living Room
“You will not see a tv or cell phones in this living room as we created a space for sharing with friends and family. For easy access to the patio we have two pair of French doors flanking the fireplace. We used the same exterior stone for the fireplace to keep the look simple.”

“To take advantage of the high ceilings we added antique modeled boats to bring the ceiling down to give an intimate feel.”

Family Room
“The living room is made for conversing and sharing while the family room is where you will find WiFi and a TV. Unlike the rest of the house where we painted all the wood trim, it has stained woodwork and stained plank wood ceiling.”

Sunroom
“We placed the sunroom in the front of the house to take advantage of the tranquil lake views.”

“We chose lighter shades of Celadon slate for the flooring. The distressed beams reflect driftwood. The limestone fireplace adds the needed warmth for those chilly evenings.”

The sunroom has French doors that open the wrap-around front porch with great views of the lake. The sun filled sunporch is a pleasant place to enjoy your morning coffee.”

Linen shades on the sconces add a soft glow to this foyer with custom wainscoting and arched doorway.

Staircase
“The spindles on the stairs have a simple classic Arts and Crafts line. We painted the spindles and newel posts and contrasted the handrail and staircase treads to match the wood stain on the plank flooring. We added bold colored Nautical flags to contrast the light palette.”
Master Bathroom
“The soaking tub is a nice place to relax, have a glass of wine and take in the view of the lake.”

“We chose shaker style white cabinets with glass handles and plumbing fixtures for a classic spa feel. The tower separates the two sinks creating some distinction of space.”

“We used a ceramic tile that resembles wood planks on the floor and brought it 3 feet as a wainscoting up the wall to give a more intimate feel.”

Boulder wall – We chose lighter colored stones to contrast the dramatic, timeless black cedar shake, with three different scales of stone. The tiny aggregate porch sits on top of the larger stone belt that wraps the house. We used giant ledge boulders to retain the house on the hill.”
